2 Jun 2008 at 1:13pm Clint & Nicole Pitt's Weddingkainsphoto
8 min - Jun 2, 2008This past Saturday Isaac and I had the honor of documenting Clint & Nicole's wedding at Bayshore Grove in Oswego,NY. Despite the rain, the entire day turned out to be a wonderful time. It poured during most of the ceremony but spirits remained high. Nicole did a great job at adding her special touches. She added flowers onto her bouquet as she walked down the aisle. She surprised very important people in her life with a flower to add to her bouquet. At the end of the ceremony Clint and Nicole released butterflies. There was a small poem that accompanied the butterflies. The flowers (by Maidas) and decorations inside were gorgeous as was the cake by Cakes Galore. This will be a wedding that both Isaac and I will remember for a long time, if not forever. The bride and groom could not have looked more stunning. The guests were great, the party was fun, and the food was unforgettable. Thank you guys for letting us capture your wedding. I know you will cherish the photos for the rest of your life. Enjoy the relaxation on your honeymoon.

7 Jan 2008 at 8:16pm Sidhe Gaoithe Strawboyskilmabj
8 min - Jan 8, 2008Taking their name from their disguise Strawboys are an ancient wedding tradition the origins of which are unclear. Strawboys are recognisable by their uniquely shaped conical straw hats and dress and, despite their title, nowadays comprise both men and women. Our Co. Sligo Sidhe Gaoithe Strawboys go out to weddings in Northwest Ireland and occasionally travel as far as Dublin. The purpose of the Strawboy visit, which lasts about half an hour, is to bring good luck, happiness, health and prosperity to the bride and groom. The central part of the ceremony is the crowning of the wedded couple before and after which our members dance, sing, play music and recite poems to entertain the guests. When done properly Strawboys are the only one of the three related traditions (Wrenboys, Mummers and Strawboys) who should wear straw hats and skirts. Previously it was a tradition to burn the hats on the way home when the group was well received at a wedding. If they were made unwelcome or not hospitably treated the hats were thrown high up in the tree branches so that next day the whole village would know of the bride and groom's meanness!
