i am going to be holding and retro / old fashioned tea party for my friends.
i want to make miniture cakes but dont know which ones will look good and fairly easy to make?
i have a 3 tier cake stand and will be doing small triangled sandwiches ...
only one friend drinks tea the rest only drink coffee

Do you think I am being crazy wanting to make my own wedding cake?
We're getting married in May next year. I want to make my own wedding cake. I want to do the whole traditional rich fruit cake. I was thinking of making it at Christmas time and then storing it in the pantry in a air tight container as it will last a long time and will mature in flavour. Or I could freeze it and then defrost it. I was thinking of then icing it 2-3 days before the wedding. We're just having a simple white iced cake, no decoration. It's going to be a three tiered fruit cake with white icing.
Do you think I am being crazy wanting to make my own, we have looked around local bakeries but my fiance wasn't too keen. I do have some experience with cake baking and making tiered cakes as my grandfather used to be a baker and he taught me.
