This is a college essay on how to set a formal table. It is to be a mix of directional/exemplative essay. I need someone to help proof read my essay. I cant figure out what to use as an introduction so if someone could help me write one, that would be awsome. Any advice is much appriciated. Also should I add anything or delete anything?? Thanks A formal table setting would be defined as a symmetrical or highly organized way of emphasizing the organization of dishes, cups and silverware. It is used in formal events such as Christmas dinner, a Military Ball or having dinner with someone of importance-like the President- for example. At a formal dinner there is an alternation of courses with it?s accompanying vegetable. They begin with a lighter fare, or diet and move on to heavier meats or whole fish. Rich pastas with delicate sauces are served, as well as salad, desert and many different drinks including water, tea and wine. There is a basic way of setting a formal table which I will now share. First, choose an appropriate table cloth. A linen tablecloth is the more popular, fine choice for covering your dining table and often linen and lace are combined. The tablecloth may be any color that you desire, but a white one signifies cleanliness and elegance. It also makes the silverware and the dishware stand out better. Your napkins should match the color of the tablecloth Remember that dinner napkins are large in size, and are not to be confused with luncheon napkins which are considerably smaller. Next, decide on how many guests are going to attend your dinner, and have the appropriate number of silverware and dishware pieces on hand. In order to correctly set the table, you will need the napkins, a sufficient number of water glasses, wine glasses, bread dishes, bread knives, dinner plates, soup spoons, salad plates, salad forks, dinner forks, dinner knives, dessert spoons, coffee cups and saucers. Each course of the formal dinner requires a different set of silverware and dishware. Your silverware should be a complete set and the patterns on all of the pieces should match. To maximize the formality of your dinner, a complete set of fine china or crystal should be used. Do not try to put together odds and ends of different sets as this will create a tacky, mismatched effect. To set your table, every piece of silverware and each piece of dishware has its distinctive spot on the formal dinner table, and must be put in its proper spot. Start with the largest plate which is the dinner plate. It is placed in the center of each place setting. The soup dish is then placed in the center of the dinner plate. Next, place the dinner fork to the exact left of the dinner plate, with the salad fork to its left. Up above the salad fork, and to its left, place the salad plate. Directly above the dinner fork, place the bread plate with the bread knife horizontally across it. To the exact right of the dinner plate, place the dinner knife, and position the soup spoon to its right. Now, right of the soup spoon is where the coffee cup and saucer are placed. Directly above the coffee cup, place the wine glass, with the water glass placed a little above it and to its left. The napkin is folded and placed either in the empty water glass, or on the dinner plate. Lastly, the dessert spoon is placed in the center above the dinner plate. Make sure you add a stunning centerpiece to complete your formal dining table, a flower arrangement is typically what is used. When setting a formal table, it is tradition to have place settings, In such an instance the host is on one end of the table and the hostess is on the opposite end. The female guest of honor is seated on the host?s right side and is always served each dish first. Serving should move around the table counterclockwise from the female guest of honor to finally the host. Keep in mind a very formal dinner is served by staff. One server generally stands behind the hostess?s chair, except when pouring wine, while the others serve the meal.

Sick of the same old fish bowl and usual centerpieces.. It takes a little imagination to see some object and turn around the use for a great project.. The classes would be from 10am till 3.00pm includes light lunch and copies all all projects and templates Let me know if you think it would work.
