Exodus 33:5 Pagan wedding rings, Why do Christians wear them?
The word "ring" is first found in Genesis 41:42 where Pharoah took his off and put it on Joseph's hand. This was not a wedding. The ring was used as a symbol of power and authority. But notice it is upon the hand of an idolatrous pagan ruler.
Ancient idols wear jewelry. Some would say God approves of idols wearing jewelry.
In Exodus 32:3-4 Aaron made a golden calf from the ornaments of jewelry given to him by the Israelites.
In Exodus 33:5 God told them to strip: "For the LORD has said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee."
If Christians have nothing to do with pagans why do they wear pagan wedding rings? This is not a part of Christiananity, Why do you still refuse to get rid of your idols?

pagan practices by Jehovah's Witnesses......?
I know, you've seen a lot of questions from me, about the Jehovah's Witnesses....
I know JW's are very against Pagan stuff. (no Christmas, Easter, and so on). so why is it that JW's still wear a PAGAN wedding ring and worship Jehovah on a PAGAN "holy day" - Sunday?
"The wedding ring originated in Babylon, the cradle of civilization. The most ancient ring discovered there is in the shape of the eternal serpent. The image of the serpent biting its tail to form the circle of the ring is an ancient satanic symbol (***satanic ouroboros) . The same symbol is used by the Theosophy Cult. Satan as the serpent, that great dragon of Revelation 12, has by this symbol joined a man and a woman under his cult. ..." http://jesus-messiah.com/html/wedding_rings.html
(I have not really read much on the topic, don't know how accurate this article is. i've done some looking on wikipedia and haven't found anything as detailed as this, so still looking.... but i have heard a LOT about the ring being a pagan thing).
and the origin of sunday worship: http://www.biblehistory.com/The%20Origin%20of%20Sunday%20Worship.html
Ladywolf! hey... i am not trying to "slander" you, or any JW. I am only trying to learn about the JW. I knew nothing at all except what I was told by other people about the JW. That's why I am asking the questions that others have put in my head, to find out what YOU have to say about what YOU do. so please, if it upsets you that I ask about why you believe what you believe, then don't answer the question. simple as that. (My best friend is a JW, btw. and we get along great, and we talk alot these days..... she just got baptized. this is why I suddenly have tonz of questions about what the JW are).

Why do Jehovahs Witnesses use special reasoning when speaking of pagan wedding rings?
They seem to believe that Pagan things are wrong except when it would be inconvenient to avoid them.
So what of pagan things in XMAS and Eastrer that no longer call to mind their pagan origins?
For example, does anyone today actually worship the pagan god Esther? Do people really see penises when they look at the xmas tree or do they really think of fertility and sex when they see bunny rabbits or eggs? Or do they think of Jesus Christ, his birth and his reserrection?
Here's a great example of ho a JW can contradict themselves within the space of a few sentences:
Wedding rings have never had a clearly pagan religious connection.
Not so. And what decides how clear a pagan connection is? The answer is of course, "whatever the Watchtower society tells their members. If the Watchtower society says the pagan origin is positive and definite, then the rank and file JW will believe that the connection and pagan origins are solid and definite.
People of differing religions wear them.
People of differing religions celebrate Christmas, another contradiction and inconsistency in JW logic.
Today, most people of any religion recognizes the rings as a sign that the two are married.
Today most people recognize Christmas as just an ooprtunity for a family to get together and give gifts. Non Christians celebrate Christmas.
Today it is true that people celebrating these holidays do not associate the pagan origins with the celebrations,
There you go! My exact point!
JWs don't use special reasoning, it is the same:
Does it have a pagan origin? Does it still have connotations of false religious practices? The answer to both questions should be 'yes.' According to whom?
Wedding rings:
Does it have pagan origins? Unknown, the origins are disputed. By whom? The Watchtower?
Does it have current false religious associations? No. YES!
Christmas:
Does it have pagan origins? Yes
Does it have current false religious associations? Clearly Not FALSE religious. Celebrating Jesus is not false. Christmas is just a metaphor, not to be taken literally.
Easter:
Does it have pagan origins? Yes
Does it have current false religious associations? Clearly
===
Days of the week:
Doe the names have a pagan origin? Yes
Does it have current false religious associations? No YES!
