Gold Wedding Rings
Men's Gold Wedding Bands
Gold is still the most popular choice for men's wedding rings. Pure gold is a deep yellow color, soft, very malleable and is of 24 carats. The only things to consider when buying a gold wedding ring are the gold carat and gold color or the combination of gold colors available.
Typical men s wedding bands contain 9ct, 14ct and 18ct gold. The higher the proportion of gold used indicates the cost and the value of the metal. All these mentioned carat wedding rings are hard and durable metals and are suitable for daily usage.
In the present market, gold is available in a wide range of different colors. However, the most popular is still yellow gold, followed by white gold and rose gold. Other gold colors such as bronze, peach, red and lime gold are also sometimes available. Each gold color contains the same proportion of pure gold, so all the gold colors having the same carat will have the same Vickers score. White gold is usually more expensive than yellow gold and rose gold.
When buying wedding bands, men should consider the metals performance in daily usage and the difference in price and color. Studies show that an 18-carat ring holds up to everyday wear compared to a 9-carat and 14 carat. Also, 18 carat gold ages better than 9ct and 14ct and so looks better with daily usage. So, 18ct is the superior metal for men's wedding rings provided that the ring is not a lightweight construction even though it is more expensive than 14 carat and 9 carat.
One major advantage with a gold wedding ring is that a simple gold wedding ring can normally be resized in the future by a local jeweler. However, a gold ring with ribbed edges, a wave or woven pattern or engraving might be a bit more difficult to resize without affecting the ring pattern.

What's happening at a molecular level with smell? Do metals evaporate?
I'm aware that smells and odours are caused by molecules/volatiles in the air. I always imagined this means that volatile molecules, atoms, compounds, what have you, either react with something in air, changing state or making a new compound, or simply evaporating.
The thing that puzzles me is that even metal has a very distinctive smell as do even very non-reactive metals (I have no gold around me to check this statement against but I have a titanium ring that does, correct me if I'm wrong).
So if even non-reactive metals smell, does that mean they are, at some very small level, evaporating?
Now I never got to grips with moles in chemistry but I get the idea that there are a ridiculously large amounts of atoms in even, say, a shot glass of water, so my next question is just a 'what if', and probably plain unrealistic but here it is:
If (IF) metal evaporates and all other variables are neutralised, how long would it take a small gold wedding ring to dissipate?

Can I change my white gold wedding ring to Platinum and if so how much roughly would it cost?
It turns out im allergic to my white gold wedding band-i think its the nickle in it. My engagement ring is platinum and hasnt caused any reaction but I got an awful irritation after I started wearing my wedding band.
Either that or im allergic to marriage!!
