What do you think of this topper I made?
So I spent pretty much all afternoon working on this cake topper made out of polymer clay. I've never really sculpted anything out of clay before besides those little pots everyone makes in 1st grade.
Anyway, I wanted to have a cake topper with a nest and 2 birds (we're having a fall-themed wedding and the cake has a lot of leaves on it). i couldn't find anything online with that description that was under $20. I put a leaf on the bottom of it, but I want to make small clay leaves to fill the gaps in as soon as I figure out how to do that.
Hey, if you know a quick way to make leaves out of clay, let me know that too :)

I think I'm leaning towards cake number 3, and it's a red velvet cake which is my favorite kind of cake and would also tie in with my color scheme but I'm just not sure, so I really need opions!
You guys are right, fondant is nasty, but there is still frosting underneath the fondant. The fondant is just a smooth surface to make the cake look pretty and is easy to decorate on. So when you get the piece of cake you can just peel the fondant off and eat the cake and icing. Unless you just want to eat the fondant. I do know some people who like it, but I am not one of those!

ok we are getting married 11-1-08 at my sister's ranch, its country and rustic and we arent doing the whole fall thing, no leaves, pumpkins. any pics or ideas would be great!!
also i was thinking of doing cupcakes instead of cake any ideas of what i could decorate the top of the cupcakes with...
