More than 1,000 newspapers across the United States now accept wedding announcements or commitment ceremonies for same-sex couples, an increase from only 69 publications in 2002. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation made the announcement Monday, six years after The New York Times accepted its first same-sex wedding announcement.
