Cheap Weddings - Is It Possible?
Every woman looks forward to her wedding day. While most of us dream of elaborate weddings with all the finer things, these days those kinds of weddings just aren't practical for some people. If you can stop yourself from spending unnecessary amounts of money, cheap weddings are very possible. To avoid spending exuberant amounts of money, here are some tips:
Bridal Shops:
They might try to order a size that's too big for you; don't let them. You know what size you wear; you're the one who's been trying on wedding dresses. The thing is, they try to convince you because there needs to be allowances for this or that. So you end up needing a seamstress to make alterations, hiking up the price. Cheap weddings stay cheap when you do things like make sure they order a dress in the proper size.
Vendors:
Regardless of the vendor, no matter who it is, be sure you know what all their fees are from the beginning. There could be a lot of extra costs and fees you won't otherwise know about. This applies to bands, performers, caterers, and others. Get your agreement in writing, and ask them flat out if there are any hidden fees.
Don't Say Wedding:
A tip: Telling the vendor that this is for a wedding is a surefire way to get the worst, most expensive deals possible. This seems kind of silly, but simply telling them that you're having an 'event' can save you money.
You can expect that when a vendor gets a whiff of a wedding, they will charge a lot more... often triple or quadruple the price of an event that's no smaller than a wedding.
Do get a price quote, but don't be afraid to haggle a bit and see if they'll go lower. Tips like this make for cheap weddings. So, can they be done?
